For those who may never experienced destructive hails, you may find it here in Madison. During the summer last year when it hailed, we were so curious. Jumping out from the apartment (2020 Old University ave.) during such moment, P'Tor was risking his head just to grab some hails for only one reason---guess what? Yeap.....to photograph them.
How big they were? Well..as compared with P'Karn's thumb (in the top picture), it might be easier to perceive. Putting a ruler on their side made the picture looks just like academic research..don't you think..humm...not bad, right? Oh..there is a guy in the back of the classroom who is raising his hand while asking a question, "Are they the bigest ones?" The answer is..NO. I did not actually know what the biggest size was. As I known, there were also baseball-size hails in the area nearby Madison damaging a lot of cars. This would be another important reason why some insurance companies raised up the insurrance cost thereafter. Probably, the auto dealers who presented their used cars out door at the Alliant Energy Center during that time might realized this matter very very well.
It's a summer now in Madison and you may not want to expose your beautiful wheels to the summer ice balls. So ... be ready and keep checking the weather forecast everyday, I would say.
Good luck, folks Manucer.
